Where are we? N27W31238 Highway 83
We're pretty easy to find! We are located in Waukesha County, smack dab in the middle of the teeny downtown district of Genesee Depot (if you blink you might miss it) on Highway 83 -- just at the railroad tracks. Located on the Crossing Community Church property with an ample, paved parking lot! We're about 6 miles South of Hwy 83 & I-94, about 3.5 miles South of Hwy 18 & 83, and just about a mile North of the intersection of Hwys 59 & 83.

Hey there, I'm Mel! I'm a cake decorator! What's your superpower? :o) I joined the sassy, exciting team at Sally's in March (2016) doing the cake decorating. I worked in my family's bakery for most of my life, learning how to decorate at the age of 15 from the best teacher ever...MY DAD! Continuing my creativity later in life to work for some of the best bakeries in Wisconsin. Art is my passion, so let your imagination be my creation!!

Hello! I’m Laura, a Culinary Institute of Michigan graduate as of May 2018! I loved studying for my Associates degree in the Applied Science of Baking and Pastry Arts in Muskegon, MI. I was right across the lake from Milwaukee and got to enjoy sunsets and runs along one of the top beaches in the country. Now that I’ve returned close to my hometown of Waterford, I enjoy hanging out with my boyfriend, family and my cat, Fish, when I’m not busy drooling over pastries! Side note from Sally: This young lady was besties with my daughter when they were in Kindergarten! How teeny is this world??!!

Hey! My name is Charlotte and I’m one of the bakers at Sally’s! When I first heard about Sally’s Sweet Shoppe, I was looking for an opportunity as an intern for my baking and pastry degree at Waukesha County Technical College. She took me on board, and with her and Laura, taught me the ropes on how to be a better and more efficient baker. After my internship, she decided I was a perfect fit to her staff and hired me! Some of my favorite things to make are cookies, whoopie pies, and scones.

I retired from my full-time job (after 30+ years!!) and was looking for a fun part-time job to fill my time. Sally's is just what I was looking for! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and gardening.

Hi, my name is John, or as my children call me…Buddy.
I am Mr. Sally's Sweet Shoppe. I love our little shop that Sally, aka Tracey, and I made (with a lot of help from her Dad!). It represents us both so perfectly, a little off center and very fun. I have absolutely NO experience baking (and my mom was a horrible baker), but I love to do dishes and mop floors (no, seriously, I do). I work at the Shoppe on Hot Ham & Rolls Sunday and love doing it. Whenever Tracey is feeling guilty because I’m working so much (Shoppe on weekends and my regular “Joe” job on weekdays), I tell her not to because I love it. Everyone that comes into the Shoppe is so happy and no one is upset with me, unlike my Monday through Friday job. The other benefit to working at the shop, other than working through my OCD issues, is the free food. Yes, I am one of those people on the side of the highway with a sign that says…”will work for food.” In my case, it is Sally’s kringle and cookies. I’m OK getting paid with whatever falls off the table. |
Sally...or Tracey...or what is is anyways?!
My name is Sally...Tracey actually. My friends nicknamed me Sally Sunshine because I am a joy-filled person. I've been a professional baker since I was 16 years old. I graduated from cooking school 30+ years ago and have worked at the Hyatt Regency, some great restaurants, and was the head baker at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Brookfield. In 1993, I decided that the hours and industry had taken their toll on me, so I left the food industry and went to go work for one of my customers in the construction field. That is where I had been for the past 17 years, until in 2009 I decided to quit my perfectly good job, in the height of the worst economic recession our country has known…huh, not such a great idea! After months of being unemployed, my husband and I decided that I didn't need to work for a great employer, I needed to BE a great employer. A couple months later, Sally's was opened for business!
So no, I haven't dreamed of this my whole life, but what I have ALWAYS tried to do is to touch, move, and inspire people with my work—now I get to do that in a physical sense too. Amazing the plans that God has for us when you get out of the way of your own self and start being and doing those amazing plans!
